SMS Opt-In Consent Flow
This page documents how ClubMeister collects SMS consent from end users. Consent is collected in-app via a clearly labeled, unchecked-by-default checkbox before any SMS messages are sent.
When a player creates their account or updates their profile in the ClubMeister mobile app, they can optionally enter their phone number. A separate, unchecked-by-default checkbox asks the user to consent to receiving SMS event reminders.
The consent checkbox includes the program name (ClubMeister), message frequency disclosure, "message and data rates may apply" notice, opt-out instructions (reply STOP), and links to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
When shown: During account registration or profile editing
Required action: User must actively check the box and save. No SMS is sent until consent is given.
When the profile screen first loads, the SMS consent checkbox is not pre-selected. The player must actively check it. If the box is left unchecked, the phone number is saved but no SMS messages are ever sent to that number.
After the player checks the consent box and saves their profile, they receive a single confirmation SMS from ClubMeister acknowledging their enrollment and reminding them how to opt out.
Contains: Brand name (ClubMeister), confirmation of enrollment, opt-out instructions (STOP).
Only after consent is given in-app does the player begin receiving event reminder and RSVP messages. Players can reply YES or NO to confirm attendance, or STOP at any time to opt out of all messages.
Opt-out: Reply STOP at any time to immediately stop all messages.
